ADHD in college

College leans hard on the skills ADHD makes harder: staying with a long lecture or a dense reading, planning around deadlines, and starting work with nobody checking in. Many adults first notice it in college, where there is more freedom and less structure than in high school. An evaluation with a licensed provider is how you find out whether ADHD explains what you are experiencing, and what treatment could look like.

This information is educational and not medical advice. Your provider completes a full evaluation before recommending any treatment.

From campus to our Ocala clinic

Your first visit is in person at 200 SW 8th St A, Ocala, FL 34471. Here is the drive from the three nearest campuses, and how the rest of your care works from each.

College of Central Florida

Ocala Campus

10 min

About 3 miles by road from 3001 SW College Rd, Ocala.

East on SW College Road (SR 200), which becomes SW 10th Street, then a right onto SW 8th Street.

CF's Ocala Campus is the closest of the three, so the in-person first visit is a short trip across town between classes. Follow-ups can be in person here or by telehealth, whichever suits the week.

University of Florida

Main campus, Gainesville

50 min

About 40 miles by road from the Reitz Union, 686 Museum Rd.

Archer Road, SW 34th Street and Williston Road to I-75 south, about 31 miles to exit 352 (SR 40), then east on Silver Springs Boulevard into Ocala.

You make the drive once. After your first visit, follow-ups can be by telehealth from your apartment or residence hall in Gainesville. If home is out of state, plan follow-ups for weeks you are on campus: a telehealth visit only works while you are physically in Florida.

Santa Fe College

Northwest Campus, Gainesville

55 min

About 45 miles by road from 3000 NW 83rd St, Gainesville.

NW 83rd Street and NW 39th Avenue (SR 222) to I-75 south at exit 390, about 38 miles to exit 352 (SR 40), then east on Silver Springs Boulevard into Ocala.

The Northwest Campus is about a mile from I-75, so nearly all of the drive is interstate. Taking classes at the Blount Center downtown instead? That drive is about 40 miles, roughly 50 minutes. Either way, the first visit is the only one that has to be in Ocala.

Distances and drive times are road estimates from OpenStreetMap routing data, without traffic; allow longer at rush hour. Hours are Mon-Fri 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Padgett Medical Center is not affiliated with the College of Central Florida, the University of Florida or Santa Fe College.

College student ADHD questions, answered

How much does ADHD treatment cost for college students in Ocala?+

College students pay $130 for the first visit, 50% off the regular $260, when they book online with a card on file and show a valid college ID at the visit. It's a 30-minute evaluation with a licensed provider, in person at our Ocala clinic. Follow-up visits are $136, the same for everyone. Nothing is charged when you book, and there's no contract.

Who qualifies for the student price?+

New patients who are enrolled in college and have a valid college ID, shown at the first visit. It isn't limited to CF, UF or Santa Fe College. If you're already a patient with us, the regular prices apply.

Is the 50% off every visit?+

No. It comes off your first visit only. Follow-up visits are $136 for students and everyone else.

How do I get the $130 first visit?+

Book online from any button on this page, pick a time for your in-person visit, and keep a card on file. Bring your valid college ID to the appointment, where we check it and take the 50% off at checkout. Nothing is charged when you book.

Can I book without a card on file?+

Yes, at the regular $260: the student price comes with a card on file. Without one, your appointment is not confirmed until we reach you by phone.

Does my first visit have to be in person if I go to school in Gainesville?+

Yes. Every new patient's first ADHD visit is in person at our Ocala clinic, about 40 miles from UF and 45 from Santa Fe's Northwest Campus by I-75. ADHD treatment can involve a controlled medication, and Florida law is strict about how those are prescribed, so the first evaluation happens face to face. After that, follow-ups can be by telehealth from Gainesville.

Can I do follow-ups by telehealth from campus or from home?+

From anywhere in Florida, yes: your apartment, your residence hall or your family's house in another Florida town. You need to be physically in the state at the time of the visit, so if you're going home out of state for a break, schedule your follow-up for before you leave or after you're back.

What should I bring to my first visit?+

Your valid college ID, which the student price depends on. If you were diagnosed with or treated for ADHD before, bring any records you have so your provider can see them.

Will I be prescribed medication?+

Not necessarily, and nothing is promised before your evaluation. Based on what your provider finds, treatment may bring together medication, when your provider judges it appropriate, practical strategies for studying and planning, and regular follow-up.

Can I share my ADHD medication with a roommate?+

No. Medication prescribed to you is for you only, and giving or selling a controlled medication to anyone else is against the law. With roommates and a busy residence hall, keep it somewhere private.

Are there any hidden fees?+

No. The only charge besides the visit is a $50 no-show fee if you don't come and don't cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours ahead, and that can be applied to your next visit.

Is Padgett part of my college's health services?+

No. Padgett Medical Center is an independent clinic in Ocala and is not affiliated with the College of Central Florida, the University of Florida or Santa Fe College. Your school may run its own counseling and disability services; contact them directly about what they offer.
