Adult ADHD / ADD Treatment · Wildwood, FL
Adult ADHD Treatment for Wildwood
Yes, with one trip. Wildwood adults start ADHD care at Padgett Medical Center with a 30-minute evaluation, and that first visit is always in person at our Ocala clinic, about 24 miles and roughly 38 minutes away without traffic. After it, follow-ups can be done by telehealth from home or work, as long as you are physically in Florida, so you may only need to make the drive once.

For Wildwood patients
$169 first visit
- With a card on file: 35% off $260.
- Your first visit is in person in Ocala.
- Follow-ups are $136, in person or by telehealth.
Your provider: Sarah Weir, APRN.
New patients pay $260 for the 30-minute evaluation, or $169 when it is booked online with a card on file, a 35% discount. Every follow-up is $136, whether you sit in the exam room or log in from Wildwood. Medication, if your provider prescribes it, comes from your own pharmacy and is not included in the visit fee. See adult ADHD treatment in Ocala for how the program works.
How many Wildwood adults are short on sleep or under heavy stress?
Nearly 1 in 3 adults in Wildwood usually sleep less than 7 hours in a 24-hour period: CDC PLACES puts it at 31.2% in 2022. Frequent mental distress, defined as 14 or more days of poor mental health in the previous 30, was reported by 12.8% in 2023. Neither number measures ADHD, and nothing here says how many people in town have it. Sleep still deserves attention, since NHLBI says experts recommend 7 to 9 hours a night for adults.
Why will the evaluation ask about sleep, mood and stress?
Because ADHD often shows up alongside other conditions. NIMH notes that other mental health conditions often come along with ADHD, and that ADHD can make them harder to treat; it also says adults must have shown symptoms starting before age 12, so a diagnosis leans heavily on your history. Your provider will ask about sleep, mood and stress so the whole picture is clear before any treatment is discussed.
What is working life like in Wildwood?
It varies, in a city with a median age of 64.2. About 36% of residents 16 and older were in the labor force in the Census Bureau's 2020 to 2024 estimates, and the average one-way commute for those who travel to work was 22.4 minutes. The city calls itself the crossroads of Florida, and Brownwood, a commercial district of The Villages, lies inside the city limits. NIMH lists work problems, poor time management, planning or organization, and trouble remembering daily tasks among the ways ADHD shows up in adults.
How do I fit the evaluation around the school day?
Treat it like a school-hours errand. Wildwood Elementary teaches kindergarten through third grade, Wildwood Intermediate fourth through sixth, and Wildwood Middle High seventh through twelfth, so a family with children of different ages may have more than one drop-off. A late-morning appointment leaves time after the first bell and room to get back before pickup. Once you are an established patient, a telehealth follow-up can happen from home while the kids are in class.
How long will the whole trip take?
Plan on about two hours door to door: roughly 38 minutes each way without traffic, the 30-minute evaluation, and a cushion for parking, check-in and traffic. Appointments are on weekdays, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. If you work shifts, a visit on a day off saves you from heading straight from Ocala to work, and if you work in Brownwood or elsewhere in town, ask for the morning or afternoon off rather than a long lunch.
What does Sarah Weir, APRN, cover in the 30-minute evaluation?
She will ask what you notice day to day and when it began, including in childhood, how it affects your job and your home life, your health history, the medications you take and any records from past care. NIMH adds that a provider might want to hear from people close to you and might review old school reports or other records from childhood. Any treatment that follows could include medication you and your provider choose together, plus strategies that don't involve medication, and nothing, diagnosis or prescription, is promised ahead of time.
Why might my provider check a state database before prescribing?
Because state law builds in a check. Under section 893.055 of the Florida Statutes, before a controlled substance is prescribed for anyone 16 or older, the prescriber or a designee has to look the patient up in E-FORCSE, Florida's prescription drug monitoring program; a few exceptions apply. It is a legal requirement, not a sign of what your visit will decide. Should medication end up in your plan, your own pharmacy fills it, and no one promises it the same day.
After the first visit, do I have to keep driving to Ocala?
No. You can come in, or join a follow-up by video from home or a quiet office, so long as you are physically in Florida during it. Census estimates show 18.1% of Wildwood's working residents already work from home, so a follow-up at the kitchen table may fit right into the day. Each follow-up is $136, the same as in person.
Do The Villages and Inverness have adult ADHD pages too?
Yes. Residents of the villages within Wildwood's limits may also find adult ADHD care in The Villages useful, since it covers that community as a whole. From Inverness, out SR 44 to the west, the clinic is about 31 miles and roughly 50 minutes away: see adult ADHD treatment in Inverness. Padgett also sees Wildwood adults for weight care, including phentermine in Wildwood. When you are ready, schedule your in-person ADHD evaluation.
Getting to us from Wildwood
Our clinic is at 200 SW 8th St A, Ocala, FL 34471.
To plan the in-person evaluation, give the drive about 40 minutes each way. The direct way is US 301 north from downtown, joining US 27/441 near Belleview. If US 301 is backed up, take SR 44 west to I-75, go north to SR 200 and follow it into Ocala; it adds a few miles. Both routes end with a turn onto SW 8th Street.
Open Mon-Fri 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Adult ADHD questions from Wildwood
Can my first ADHD visit be a video visit from Wildwood?
No. Your evaluation, the first visit, happens face to face at our clinic, 200 SW 8th St., Suite A, and runs 30 minutes on a weekday. After you are an established patient, a follow-up can be a video visit from home, provided you are physically in Florida each time.
Do I get a prescription at the end of the evaluation?
Not necessarily, and no medication is promised in advance. If your provider recommends medication, it is chosen with you, filled at your own pharmacy and not part of the visit fee, and same-day medication is never promised. Your plan may also include non-medication strategies, discussed at the evaluation and at follow-ups.
Can I ask questions before I drive to Ocala?
Yes. Padgett offers a free 15-minute phone call with the medical staff; it is not a visit with the provider and nothing is prescribed on it. Use it to ask what to bring, how long to plan for or how follow-ups work, then book the in-person evaluation when you are ready.
I'm a college student living in Wildwood. Is there a student price?
There is, when both conditions hold: a valid college ID, and an online booking made with a card on file. That first visit then costs $130, which is 50% off rather than 35%; the price covers the first visit only, and your ID is checked at the visit. See college ADHD treatment for details.
