Adult ADHD Treatment for The Villages
Yes. Adults who live or work in The Villages can get an ADHD evaluation at Padgett Medical Center. The first visit is a 30-minute evaluation, always in person in Ocala, a drive of about 22 miles and roughly 34 minutes without traffic. After that, you can choose in-person or telehealth follow-ups, provided you are in Florida for each one.

Any medication is filled at your own pharmacy and is not part of the visit fee. The adult ADHD treatment page explains the program in full.
Who in The Villages looks into adult ADHD care?
More working people than you might expect in a mostly retired place. The Census Bureau's five-year survey through 2024 shows only 12.4% of residents 16 and older in the labor force, and those who work spend an average of 21.2 minutes getting there. This page is for those working adults, for people who hold jobs in the community but live elsewhere, for adults whose trouble with focus goes back to childhood, and for a spouse or grown child helping someone plan the visit.
What does the CDC say about sleep and stress in The Villages?
CDC PLACES estimates that 26.2% of adults in The Villages averaged less than 7 hours of sleep in 2022, and 8.9% reported frequent mental distress in 2023, meaning 14 or more mentally unhealthy days out of the past 30. These are not ADHD numbers. They matter because the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute notes that people who don't get enough sleep can have trouble learning, focusing and reacting.
Why does the evaluation ask about sleep, stress and other medicines?
To see the whole picture before anyone talks about ADHD. NIMH notes that sleep problems affect up to 70% of adults with ADHD and that ADHD often occurs alongside other mental health conditions, which can make them harder to treat. A provider may ask about your mood and your current and past health to rule out other explanations. At Padgett, the evaluation also covers the medications you take now and any records from earlier care.
What happens during the 30-minute first visit?
Sarah Weir, APRN, walks through your symptoms with you: how long you have had them, including in childhood, and how they affect work and home. NIMH says adult symptoms must have started before age 12, so old school reports or a relative's memories of you as a child can help. Treatment, if any, may include medication chosen with the provider and non-medication strategies. No diagnosis or medication is promised in advance.
How much time off should I ask for?
Ask for a few hours, not just the appointment slot. The visit is 30 minutes, and the drive is about 22 miles and roughly 34 minutes each way without traffic, plus time to park and check in. The clinic is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, so a late-morning or early-afternoon slot lets you dodge the worst of the rush on US 301 and S Pine Avenue. If you work near Lake Sumter Landing, the town square on Lake Sumter, or farther south, count on a somewhat longer drive than from the middle of the community.
Can parents at The Villages Charter School fit this around the school day?
Yes, with a little planning. The school enrolls children through a parent's or guardian's job with The Villages or one of its direct business partners, not by home address, so every family there includes someone who works. Its two campuses, Buffalo Ridge for kindergarten through 8th grade and Middleton, which adds The Villages High School, set the rhythm of drop-off and pickup. A mid-day appointment in Ocala, then follow-ups by telehealth from home, keeps time away from work and school small.
Is there a student price for Lake-Sumter State College?
There is, if you meet both conditions. College students who book online with a card on file and a valid college ID pay $130 for the first visit, 50% off instead of 35%, first visit only, and the ID is checked at the visit. That can include students at the college's Sumter Center, 1423 County Road 526A in Sumterville, which offers AA and AAS degrees. See college ADHD treatment for the details.
Can follow-ups happen from home in The Villages?
Yes, provided you're in Florida that day. A follow-up can be in person or by telehealth, but only while you are actually in Florida, so a summer home in another state won't work for a telehealth visit. Pick a quiet room with a steady connection. On other days, a set place for focused work outside the house can help, such as the Villages Public Library at Belvedere, 325 Belvedere Boulevard, or the library's Pinellas Plaza branch on Powell Road in Wildwood.
What does Florida law require before ADHD medication is prescribed?
Section 893.055 of the Florida Statutes has prescribers check E-FORCSE, the state's prescription drug monitoring program, before prescribing many controlled substances. That is the law, not a promise about any one visit. If medication becomes part of your plan, it is chosen with your provider and filled at your own pharmacy, and same-day medication is never promised.
Where do people in Brownwood and the southern villages go for care?
The same Ocala clinic, though the drive is longer from the south. Brownwood, the southern town square, lies inside the City of Wildwood, so adult ADHD treatment in Wildwood is written with that area in mind, and Leesburg, farther south in Lake County, has adult ADHD treatment in Leesburg. Padgett also sees residents for weight care; see personalized compounded semaglutide for The Villages. Book your first ADHD visit online whenever you are set.
Getting to us from The Villages
Our clinic is at 200 SW 8th St A, Ocala, FL 34471.
Plan the in-person ADHD evaluation as a round trip. From Lake Sumter Landing, Morse Boulevard runs north to US 27/441, which carries you into Ocala; from the villages along Buena Vista Boulevard, CR 466 leads to US 301 north, which does the same job. From Brownwood and the other villages inside Wildwood, SR 44 west to I-75 north, then SR 200 into town, adds miles but keeps you on the interstate for most of the trip.
Open Mon-Fri 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Adult ADHD questions from The Villages
Can my first ADHD visit be by telehealth from The Villages?
No. The first visit is always in person at our Ocala clinic, 200 SW 8th St., Suite A. It is a 30-minute evaluation on a weekday. Once you are an established patient, follow-ups can be by telehealth from home, provided you are in Florida at the time.
I'm retired. Is it too late to be evaluated for ADHD?
It is never too late to ask. NIMH says ADHD can continue into adulthood but that symptoms begin in childhood, before age 12, so the evaluation looks back as well as at today. The provider decides what fits after hearing your full history, and no diagnosis is promised in advance.
What should I bring to the first ADHD visit?
Bring a list of your current medications and doses, any earlier ADHD records or evaluations, and old school reports if you can find them. NIMH notes that a provider may also want to hear from people who know you well, so a spouse's or relative's memories of your childhood can be useful.
