- In person in Ocala or by telehealth.
Your provider: Sarah Weir, APRN.
Padgett's testosterone replacement therapy in Ocala is medically supervised and guided by your labs. The plan starts at $199 a month. That is a starting price: the actual cost depends on the plan your labs point to, and your provider sets the plan and the dose from those results, then adjusts both over time. At Padgett, testosterone is given by injection. It is a prescription medication and a Schedule III controlled substance.
What does the lab-first process look like from Marion Oaks?
Three steps, in order: morning labs, a review, then a decision. The Endocrine Society's 2018 guideline on testosterone therapy says low testosterone should be diagnosed only in men who have symptoms and signs of deficiency and unequivocally and consistently low blood levels. Sarah Weir, APRN, reads your results next to your symptoms, health history and medications. If testosterone makes sense, she sets the plan. If it doesn't, nothing is prescribed.
Why does the blood draw have to happen in the morning?
Because the guideline tells clinicians to measure testosterone in the morning after an overnight fast, and to confirm a low result by repeating that fasting morning test on a separate day. It also advises against testing while you are sick or still recovering from an acute illness. A fasting test means breakfast waits until after the draw. Work nights or rotating shifts? Say so up front, and your provider can decide when your blood should be drawn.
Can low energy or a flat mood alone point to low testosterone?
No. The guideline files decreased energy, depressed mood, poor concentration and sleep disturbance under nonspecific symptoms, meaning they are not unique to low testosterone. CDC PLACES estimates that in 2023, 17.8% of Marion Oaks adults, about 1 in 6, had been told at some point by a health professional that they have a depressive disorder, compared with 19.0% across Marion County. That figure covers men and women and says nothing about testosterone. Mood deserves its own care, and if you are in crisis, call or text 988 to reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
What health issues rule out starting testosterone?
The guideline recommends against it for men who plan to father a child soon. Its list also includes breast or prostate cancer, a prostate nodule, a high PSA that hasn't had a urologist's evaluation, an elevated hematocrit (the share of your blood made up of red cells), untreated severe obstructive sleep apnea, severe urinary symptoms, uncontrolled heart failure, a heart attack or stroke within the last six months, and thrombophilia, a tendency to form blood clots.
What happens to your blood counts and blood pressure on testosterone?
Both can rise. In February 2025 the FDA said blood pressure studies confirmed an increase with all testosterone products, and it required a blood pressure warning on the ones that lacked one. The guideline calls for checking testosterone and hematocrit during the first year, and for stopping treatment if hematocrit climbs above 54% until it drops to a safe level. That is why follow-up labs and blood pressure checks continue, on a schedule your provider sets.
Does testosterone raise the odds of a heart attack or stroke?
Not in the TRAVERSE trial, which found no increase in major heart events compared with placebo. Published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2023, it enrolled 5,246 men aged 45 to 80 who had cardiovascular disease or a high risk of it, symptoms of low testosterone and two fasting levels below 300 ng/dL. Cardiovascular death, nonfatal heart attack or nonfatal stroke occurred in 7.0% of the testosterone group and 7.3% of the placebo group. Atrial fibrillation, acute kidney injury and pulmonary embolism were more common with testosterone, and in 2025 the FDA recommended adding the results to all testosterone labeling.
How do TRT visits fit a horse-country work week?
In person or from home, around your schedule. Farms in Marion County held 23,928 horses and ponies at the end of 2022, and the county led Florida in sales of horses and other equines that year, per the USDA's Census of Agriculture. The Florida Horse Park on County Road 475, a 500-acre equestrian complex with 320 permanent stalls, sits less than 10 miles south of downtown Ocala. If your days follow feeding times, a job site or a shift rotation, in-person visits are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, and Padgett's telehealth visits across Florida work while you are in the state.
Where can Marion Oaks men walk a trail or play ball?
Liberty Community Park, at 10575 SW 57th Terrace Rd., has walking trails, pavilions, restrooms and an open play field the county describes as suitable for baseball, soccer and football, open during daylight. On Ocala's west side, the 80-acre Ocala Regional Sportsplex at 3500 SW 67th Ave. has five lighted 300-foot softball fields, two lighted basketball courts and four lighted sand volleyball pits. On SR 200, a mile south of CR 484, the Ross Prairie Trailhead has an equestrian staging area, mountain bike and hiking trailheads and a 14-site campground with hookups.
Do Summerfield and Silver Springs Shores share the I-75 drive?
No. Neither route uses I-75, which carries about half of the trip from Marion Oaks. From Summerfield, the drive runs north on US 301 and S Pine Avenue, about 15 miles; from Silver Springs Shores, it follows SR 464, Maricamp Road, about 10 miles. Men in those towns can read TRT in Summerfield or TRT in Silver Springs Shores.

TRT questions from Marion Oaks
Could TRT get in the way of having more kids?
Yes, it could. The Endocrine Society notes that testosterone therapy suppresses sperm production, and it recommends against starting in men who plan to father a child in the near term. Men who aren't sure about future children may want to bank sperm first, so raise it with your provider at the lab review.
Is low testosterone behind my erection problems?
Only an evaluation can sort that out, and no one can promise TRT will change it. Testosterone is FDA-approved only for men who lack it or have low levels in conjunction with an associated medical condition, not as an erectile dysfunction treatment. Your provider can evaluate erection problems at the visit, and Padgett's erectile dysfunction treatment page covers that service.
I retired a few years ago. Does turning 65 change whether TRT makes sense?
It changes the conversation, not the rule that labs come first. The Endocrine Society suggests against routinely prescribing testosterone to all men 65 or older with low levels. For men that age with symptoms and consistently low morning results, it suggests offering testosterone case by case, after an explicit talk about risks and benefits.
