For Belleview patients

From $199/month

  • Lab testing comes first.
  • Your plan, and its cost, follow your labs.
  • In person in Ocala or by telehealth.

Your provider: Sarah Weir, APRN.

Padgett's TRT is medically supervised and lab-guided, and the plan starts at $199 a month. Treat that as a floor, not a quote: labs come first, and the plan your results point to sets the actual monthly cost. There's no contract, and nothing is charged when you book online. Testosterone replacement therapy in Ocala walks through the full program.

Why can't you start TRT on symptoms alone?

Because the diagnosis has to show up in your blood, too. The Endocrine Society's 2018 guideline recommends diagnosing low testosterone only in men with symptoms and signs plus unequivocally and consistently low levels, using a fasting, morning total testosterone test, repeated to confirm it. The American Urological Association's 2018 guideline also centers care on accurate total testosterone measurement plus symptoms and signs. Horse owners know the principle: at the Florida Horse Park on County Road 475, trail riders sign in, sign a waiver and provide proof of Coggins before they ride.

How do you fit a morning lab test around an early Belleview start?

Pick a morning when breakfast can wait until after the draw, since the guideline's test is a fasting one. Early starts are common here: in Census Bureau estimates for 2020-2024, close to 6 in 10 Belleview men who commute leave home before 7 a.m., about 3 in 4 working men work outside the city, and about 4 in 10 employed men hold construction, maintenance and repair, production, transportation or material-moving jobs. These estimates have wide margins of error. When you book, ask how your lab draw will be arranged and what fasting means for your test.

What happens once your results are back?

Sarah Weir, APRN, reviews the numbers with you alongside your symptoms and health history, so bring a list of your medications and mention any sleep apnea diagnosis. If low testosterone is confirmed, the Endocrine Society recommends looking for its cause. When TRT fits, she sets the plan and the dose from your labs and adjusts both over time with follow-up labs. At Padgett, testosterone is given by injection; it is a prescription medication and a Schedule III controlled substance, and none is prescribed before that review.

Who shouldn't start testosterone therapy?

The Endocrine Society's guideline recommends against starting it in men planning to father a child soon, or in men with breast or prostate cancer, an elevated hematocrit, untreated severe obstructive sleep apnea, severe lower urinary tract symptoms, uncontrolled heart failure, a heart attack or stroke in the past 6 months, or thrombophilia, a tendency to form blood clots. Its list also includes a prostate lump or hardened area, or a PSA above 4 ng/mL (above 3 ng/mL in higher-risk men, such as African American men or men whose father, brother or son had prostate cancer), without further urologic evaluation. Your provider decides from your full history.

Why do blood pressure and blood counts get rechecked after you start?

Because testosterone can raise blood pressure, and the guideline's monitoring plan tracks red blood cells too. In 2025 the FDA said required studies confirmed an increase in blood pressure with all testosterone products, class-wide, and required a warning on labels that lacked one. The Endocrine Society's plan checks side effects, testosterone levels, hematocrit (the share of your blood that is red cells) and prostate cancer risk during the first year. Your provider sets the schedule.

Did the TRAVERSE trial find that testosterone raises heart risk?

Not for major heart events, though it flagged other problems. The 2023 New England Journal of Medicine trial enrolled 5,246 men aged 45 to 80 with symptoms, two fasting testosterone levels under 300 ng/dL, and cardiovascular disease or a high risk of it, who used a daily testosterone gel or placebo. Death from cardiovascular causes, heart attack or stroke occurred in 7.0% of the testosterone group and 7.3% of the placebo group, but atrial fibrillation, acute kidney injury and pulmonary embolism were more common with testosterone. Citing the trial, the FDA in 2025 recommended removing Boxed Warning language about cardiovascular risk.

How common is depression in Belleview?

About 1 adult in 5, a little above the county. CDC's PLACES estimates that 21.4% of Belleview adults, men and women together, had ever been told by a doctor, nurse or other health professional that they had a depressive disorder (2023), against 19.0% for Marion County. It isn't a testosterone figure, but it matters: MedlinePlus asks patients to report any history of depression or other mental illness before testosterone injection, and lists mood changes, including depression, as a serious side effect to call about right away. In crisis? Call or text 988.

Where can you fish or launch a boat near Belleview?

Try Lake Weir or Moss Bluff. FWC describes Lake Weir as a 5,685-acre lake near Weirsdale holding largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish and black crappie. Its Hope Boat Ramp, donated to Marion County by Sam Phillips in 1944, is open sunrise to sunset to Marion County park pass holders only. On the Ocklawaha River, Moss Bluff offers a fishing pier at Moss Bluff South and bank fishing at Moss Bluff North. Just keep sunrise launches off your lab mornings.

Is it easier to see the provider in Ocala or by telehealth?

It depends on your week. In-person visit hours are 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Telehealth works anywhere in the state as long as you are physically in Florida during the visit, handy if your job keeps you on the road; telehealth visits in Florida has the details. Not sure yet? Ask for a free 15-minute phone call with the medical staff; it is not a visit with the provider and nothing is prescribed on it.

Do Summerfield and Silver Springs Shores men follow the same steps?

Yes; only the drive changes. Summerfield, farther south on US 301, is about 15 miles from the clinic, roughly 23 minutes without traffic, and Silver Springs Shores, out on SR 464, is about 10 miles and roughly 18 minutes. TRT questions from Belleview

My partner and I want a baby. Should I hold off on TRT?

Yes, raise it before anything starts. The Endocrine Society recommends against starting testosterone in men planning fertility in the near term, and MedlinePlus notes that testosterone injection may lower the number of sperm a man produces. Share your family plans at the first visit.

I'm in my 60s and slowing down. Is that low testosterone?

Not necessarily, and age alone isn't a reason for TRT. The FDA says testosterone is approved solely for men who lack it or have low levels with an associated medical condition, and in 2025 it called for keeping the labels' limitation of use on age-related low testosterone. Your labs and symptoms, read together, answer the question.

What if my testosterone comes back normal?

Then your results don't support a diagnosis of low testosterone under the Endocrine Society's guideline, which reserves that diagnosis for men with symptoms and consistently low levels. Your provider can talk through what else might explain how you feel, and your regular doctor should hear about it too.

Can TRT fix erectile dysfunction?

Don't assume so. Erectile dysfunction gets its own evaluation rather than being treated as a testosterone problem by default, and your provider can look into it at the same clinic; erectile dysfunction treatment explains that option. Mention it at your first visit either way.
