For Lady Lake patients
From $199/month
- Lab testing comes first.
- Your plan, and its cost, follow your labs.
- In person in Ocala or by telehealth.
Your provider: Sarah Weir, APRN.
Padgett's medically supervised TRT plans start at $199 a month; your own cost depends on the plan your lab results call for. Testosterone is a prescription drug and a Schedule III controlled substance, and Padgett gives it by injection, with the dose set by your provider. See testosterone replacement therapy in Ocala for the whole program.
What are the TRT steps from Lady Lake?
Labs always come before treatment. You send a request or call, and morning blood tests come before any plan. Sarah Weir, APRN, reviews the numbers and sets a plan and dose only if TRT fits; the Endocrine Society's guideline recommends diagnosing low testosterone only when symptoms come with clearly and consistently low levels. Follow-up labs and blood pressure checks then continue.
Why does Lady Lake's age mix shape the TRT conversation?
Because Census estimates for 2020 to 2024 put 56% of the town's men at 65 or older. Age alone isn't a diagnosis: the Endocrine Society's patient guide says testosterone falls about 1% a year after 30 but doesn't severely deplete, even late in life. Its guideline suggests against routinely treating every man 65 or older with a low level, and suggests deciding case by case, after an explicit talk about risks and benefits, when symptoms or conditions such as low libido or unexplained anemia come with consistently and clearly low morning results.
How do working men fit early-morning blood tests around a shift?
Plan ahead. The guideline calls for a fasting test, repeated to confirm a low result, and the patient guide sets the window at 7 to 10 a.m. By rough Census estimates, Lady Lake has about 1,860 employed men; nearly two-thirds of the town's working men have jobs outside it, about 2 in 5 beyond Lake County, and around 1 in 4 who commute leave before 7 a.m. If your shift starts early, say so when you call and ask how the draw will be timed.
What should you ask once your results are in?
Borrow the questions in the Endocrine Society's patient guide: what is causing the low level, when to retest, whether anything besides testosterone could raise it, and which follow-up screenings you'd need. The guide lists opiate painkillers, corticosteroids, pituitary disorders and chronic illness among possible causes, and the guideline says a confirmed deficiency calls for tests showing whether the problem starts in the testicles or in the pituitary and hypothalamus. Erection problems can be evaluated as a separate concern; see erectile dysfunction treatment.
Does a depression diagnosis point to low testosterone?
Not by itself. CDC's PLACES model estimates that in 2023, 15.7% of Lady Lake adults had ever been told by a health professional that they had a depressive disorder; Lake County's estimate is 17.1%. That count includes women and is not a testosterone figure. The patient guide does list depressed mood and irritability among possible symptoms, so only blood tests can show whether your level is actually low, and MedlinePlus asks men to report any depression history before testosterone injection. Thoughts of harming yourself need help today, not a lab result: call or text 988.
Who can be considered, and who should not start?
The FDA approves testosterone only for men whose low levels come with an associated medical condition, such as testicles that fail after chemotherapy. It is not for a man trying to father a child: the Endocrine Society advises against it for men planning fertility soon, and MedlinePlus says it may lower sperm counts. The guideline also advises against starting it in men with breast or prostate cancer; a prostate lump or hardening, a PSA above 4 ng/mL, or a PSA above 3 ng/mL in men at higher risk of prostate cancer (such as African American men or men whose father, brother or son had it), without further evaluation by a urologist; an elevated hematocrit; untreated severe obstructive sleep apnea; severe lower urinary tract symptoms; uncontrolled heart failure; a heart attack or stroke in the last six months; or thrombophilia, a tendency to form blood clots.
What are follow-up labs and blood pressure checks looking for?
Two things they watch are numbers testosterone can push up: blood pressure and the red blood cell count. In 2025 the FDA said the blood pressure monitoring studies it required for all testosterone products confirmed a rise in blood pressure with all of them. The patient guide lists a high red blood cell count among possible risks, and the guideline's monitoring plan tracks hematocrit, the percent of your blood made up of red cells, plus testosterone levels and prostate cancer risk in the first year. Your provider sets the timing and adjusts the dose.
What if you already have heart trouble?
Your history matters, and your provider decides. TRAVERSE, a trial published in 2023, randomly assigned 5,246 men aged 45 to 80 with low testosterone and cardiovascular disease, or a high risk of it, to a testosterone gel or a placebo gel and followed them for about 33 months on average. Cardiovascular death, heart attack or stroke occurred in 7.0% on testosterone and 7.3% on placebo, but atrial fibrillation, pulmonary embolism and acute kidney injury were more common with testosterone. The FDA saw no new cardiovascular safety signal in the results.
Where do Lady Lake men go fishing?
Lake Griffin, southeast of town, is the big water nearby. FWC counts it among the Harris Chain's eight primary lakes, names largemouth bass, black crappie and bream as the chain's popular catches, and lists two shore and pier fishing spots on it: Lake Griffin State Park, at 3089 US 441 in Fruitland Park, about 5 miles south, and the Herlong Park pier in Leesburg. On the far shore, the 6,578-acre Emeralda Marsh Conservation Area, about 17 miles by road, has a daylight boat launch and a wildlife drive open Fridays through Sundays from the third Friday in February through the last weekend in May. Being active doesn't rule low testosterone in or out; labs and symptoms do.
Can your TRT visits be by telehealth, and how do you start?
Yes. TRT visits work by telehealth anywhere in Florida while you are physically in the state; see telehealth across Florida. In-person visits are at 200 SW 8th St., Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Send a TRT request online or call (352) 369-0104, and the team follows up to schedule; ask then how your blood draw is arranged. Questions first? Ask for a free 15-minute phone call with the medical staff; it is not a visit with the provider and nothing is prescribed on it.
Can men in The Villages or Weirsdale use the same clinic?
Yes, and both towns sit a few minutes closer to it than Lady Lake's 38 minutes: testosterone therapy in The Villages covers a drive of about 34 minutes without traffic, and TRT in Weirsdale one of about 33.

TRT questions from Lady Lake
My regular doctor already checked my testosterone. Do I need new labs?
Possibly; bring the result and let your provider decide. The Endocrine Society bases the diagnosis on fasting morning tests, with a low result confirmed by a repeat, so one reading, or one taken later in the day, may need redoing. Bring your full medication list as well.
I have type 2 diabetes. Would testosterone help my blood sugar?
Don't count on it. The Endocrine Society recommends against testosterone therapy as a way to improve blood sugar control in men with type 2 diabetes and low testosterone. Its patient guide says obesity, one cause of low levels, should be addressed first; for weight, see personalized compounded tirzepatide in Lady Lake.
Will Medicare pay for TRT at Padgett?
Plan on paying yourself: Padgett is a self-pay clinic. The monthly cost depends on the plan your labs point to, starting from the price above. When you call (352) 369-0104, the team can go over pricing and what your plan includes, and you can ask how your lab work is handled.
